Sylvia received her Juris Doctorate degree in 1997 from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in Lansing, Michigan. A native Texan, she returned to San Antonio and began her career as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney for the Bexar County District Attorneyâ€™s office. From a Misdemeanor Prosecuting Attorney immersed in the complex area of DWI trial to her final position where she served as a Felony Prosecutor, in between Sylvia has practiced in the Juvenile Trial Division, practicing the very specialized and unique area of law in the Juvenile Criminal Justice System.

The career of a prosecutor is demanding and requires an attorney to hone her skills daily in court and in front of a jury. Sylvia has served as a prosecutor in several different courts while at the District Attorneyâ€™s office and has tried a vast number of cases to jury verdict with many complex cases ranging from DWI to Aggravated First Degree felonies. She has handled cases from the earliest stages of Intake and indictment through the complex process of plea negotiations, jury selection and trial and often the difficult process of punishment enhancements.
