Julie K. Hasdorff began practicing law in 1984 upon graduation from St. Mary’s University School of Law and admission to practice before the Texas Supreme Court. She accepted a commission from the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps in March 1985 and served on active duty until July 1992, when she transitioned into the U.S. Army Reserves. Active duty assignments include Legal Assistance Officer and Trial Counsel, 21st Support Command at Pirmasens, Germany; Trial Defense Service (TDS), Heidelberg, Germany; 2nd Armored Division, Ft. Hood, Texas, as Chief of Administrative Law; and, Senior Defense Counsel, at both Ft. Hood and Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Ms. Hasdorff has served in the Army Reserves in various positions, including Adjunct Professor in the Criminal Law Department at The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School.

Colonel (COL) Hasdorff was selected by The Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army as a military judge in May 2004 and served in that position until May 31, 2009. As an active duty judge, COL Hasdorff heard cases in Germany, Italy, Kuwait and Iraq from January-December 2007. COL Hasdorff has presided over 75 cases in her capacity as a military judge and has been awarded the highest skill identifier by the U.S. Army JAGC: Master Military Justice Practitioner (SI 4).
Between active duty time in TDS and in private practice , Ms. Hasdorff has represented over 300 defendants in all levels of courts-martial. Between her status as prosecutor, defense counsel and military judge, Ms. Hasdorff has served in every position in the military courts-martial experience. Ms. Hasdorff has extensive experience representing service members at administrative separation boards and Physical Evaluation Boards in, both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.

Ms. Hasdorff has been an active member of the Military Law Section of the State Bar of Texas since 1994. She served as the first female Chair of the Military Law Section from 2004-2005. She has taught criminal law courses for the section and assisted in pro bono legal services to family members of service members through the Lamplighter Program. She also served as Assistant Editor of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association (SACDLA) magazine, “The Defender,” and serves on the SACDLA Board of Directors. She has written and published articles for “The Defender,” “The Army Lawyer,” “The College Bulletin” of the State Bar of Texas and the "San Antonio Lawyer" magazine.
