Howard E. Watt has practiced law for 35 years. Before establishing his own law firm, he served for two years as an assistant district attorney for Denton County and eight years as Denton's municipal judge.

Mr. Watt is among select lawyers who are peer-review rated by Martindale-Hubbell for high levels of professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability and diligence.

Mr. Watt earned a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1973 and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1969. He also received a master's in Jewish Studies from Chicago’s Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies in 2005.

Mr. Watt has been an active member of many civic organizations in the Denton community. He has served as the president and a long-time board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Denton County, the Denton County Child Welfare Board, the Denton Food Bank and the Regional Hillel of North Texas.

Mr. Watt currently serves as the chairman of the University of North Texas Jewish Studies Program and is an involved member of Congregation Kol Ami, where he has also served as president. Among his recent endeavors, Mr. Watt formed West Oak Press, a publishing company dedicated to enriching the lives of people of all faiths through interfaith dialogue.
